MARS ROVER NAMING CEREMONY

BRIEF

To produce a creative solution for the naming ceremony for the Mars Rover, which was due to launch to Mars later that year.

CHALLENGE

To create a reveal sequence to officially name the Mars Rover at the Mars test facility. To incorporate the Rover within the sequence and to give recognition to those that have been involved in the project.

SOLUTION

The Liquid Media team created a reveal which used the Mars Rover to trigger an animated sequence displayed on a high resolution LED screen built on the Mars scape. The sequence was launched by astronaut Tim Peake and the Mars rover moved towards the audience releasing a voile covering the screen. Images of those involved in the project flew towards the screen to form the chosen name, “Rosalind Franklin”. Powerful music and stunning lighting effects added to the drama.

OUTCOME

The event gained wide PR and media attention with the world’s press in attendance. The client commented “I would like to express my gratitude to you in making today’s event such a success … I thought it was a very professionally organised and managed event.”
